Employers Breastfeeding Charter Mark Scheme
The Plymouth Breastfeeding charter mark scheme, supports employers who value mothers in the work place. Membership to the scheme demonstrates a commitment to mothers who wish to return to work and continue to provide their baby with the best form of infant nutrition: breast milk.
Plymouth Community Healthcare, Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust have been promoting the benefits of breastfeeding for many years. Human breast milk is the healthiest way to feed a human baby. It has both short and long term health benefits for a mother and her baby, which includes a reduction in many common childhood illnesses, infections, and reduces the risk of some cancers. Mothers who breastfeed are less likely to take time off work to care for a poorly baby.
Today’s breastfed baby will be tomorrows healthy workforce.
